Voila! My finished product- grilled Porterhouse steaks complete with a side of roasted garlic compound butter. The rest of the side dishes are just mere details. Since it was my dad's 53rd birthday today, it was his special request that he have a dinner comprised of his very own 3 lbs. (3 lbs.! GO BIG OR GO HOME!) of Porterhouse steak and his favorite dessert, German Chocolate cake, which my sister baked homemade ("boxed" homemade =D).


NOTE: Objects are smaller and less succulent than viewed with the naked eye.



Anyway, I'm not going to jock Orangette's steez and critique the cuisine (although I'm very much tempted to; she has an impeccable writing style that I want to steal), so I'll just let you enjoy the after and before pics.

All in all, "Papa Bear" (what my dad is known affectionately around the household as due to his corpus, bear-like frame) loved his birthday and I just plain enjoyed the family get-together after a sibling brawl (my sister and I...and probably a third-party named Shine). Food and laughter at my household always manages to quell altercations for some odd reason. I'm just glad we're past that all...and I'm sure Lats is glad too (poor soul has to hear it from me).

Take-home message: Making homemade meals sure beats going out to eat for over-priced meals especially during these rough economic times.
