Since the Summer 2008 Olympics are around the corner, I thought I'd give you a run-down on who I'm rooting for. I have so many role models out there in the sports arena and it's just great to know there are folks out there busting their asses day in and day out to fulfill their dreams...not to mention, the fat endorsements they get is a prime motivator.
I do have a question though: Why do these athletes go into cycles of retiring and then coming back to the game? Why can't they just continue on with their sports until they're carried off with ailments? I am speculating that it makes more of an impact to come back after a respite and kick ass.
Let's hope no one out there competing gets busted for doping because I'm sure Marion Jones is feeling the pitfalls of her career. I am disappointed and how embarrassing to have to return those medals.
P.S. I also realized that I am only rooting for one guy in the Olympics- Jeremy Wariner. All of the other guys are too cocky and don't really stand out. I think Michael Phelps is a phenom but I'm just not all that crazy about him. Someone beat him!
