I just finished the first book of the Shopaholic book series (by Sophie Kinsella) and I went ahead and invested in the subsequent next 3 mass-market paperbacks (cheap! $6.99, small, and conserves space!) of that series. I don't know about you, but I love those superficial, flimsy, summer-reads, and if the state of chick literature is turning into a wasteland like everything else in this era, I am in utter shell-shock. Granted, I guess just as one can only watch so many romantic comedies, the same is expected to be true in the literature arena.
On another note, I watched "P.S. I Love You" (finally) last night and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! Very original plot line, and to boot, that john made me ball my eyes out...someone I know watched that a week or two ago (a male...*ahem*) and he cried like a little baby as well.
Take-home message: Even though chick-lit is on the downward spiral, it doesn't mean that good writing and on-screen adaptations are...
Yay Thursday!
