Here's more fodder for my "Go Green" campaign: paying someone to grow local produce in your backyard! I love this concept!!! And surprise, surprise, this eco-idear has already launched in San Francisco- attention readers: SF was ranked #1 in SELF magazine and MSN as the most health-conscious city in the U.S.!
Do you know what this means? This means that on my day of wedded bliss, I'm going to get my party catered with locally grown produce (only $72/head). I know that day is eons away, but hey, you can't say I wasn't prepared. Anyhoo, I could always pass the idea to my sister, whom is newly engaged- I said I'd keep mum about it, but it's quite exciting and plus, I'm already promoted to her very own P.R.-go-to-person.
At any rate, check out the article on this emerging trend: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/22/dining/22local.html?pagewanted=1&ei=5087&em&en=7df5348a50e688b3&ex=1216958400
I love this quote from the article: “As a person of rural origin who has lived much of my life in rural places,” she said, “I can’t tell you how joyful it makes me to hear that it’s trendy for people in Manhattan to own a part of a cow.”
This is exciting stuff, people!
