Mayer's body wunderland

So I have a crush on someone...shhh...don't tell anyone. I'm not sure if I should tell you though because you might tell people...or tell Lats.

Alright, you got me. I must spill. I am heavily infatuated with John Mayer. I'm so knee-deep in this renewed interest that I listened to my own compilation CD of his greatest hits on my trek to work today-when I could have been listening to talk radio. It's funny how when you crush on someone, every bit of the lyrics somehow make sense; in this case, every stanza of this fictitious person (-->John Mayer...I say "fictitious" because he's literally out of my reach and so famous that seeing him live in person would not spark me back to reality) resonated with me. Call me crazy. Okay, call me loony.

Who else is envious of Jennifer Aniston? And when did John Mayer get that sexy whole-arm tat? I'm usually against tattoos on guys because of the whole "your body is a temple" argument, but not this time. This time, that tat is beyond sexy, beyond gorgeous...just complements his endearing personality and gives him that rough edge, bad-boy persona that he utterly lacked during his first album (do you all remember his peach fuzz, neophyte demeanor?). I'm intrigued as to what he and Jennifer really talk about?...or does his body do the talking? All that runs through my mind when I think of Jen is her classy aura/attire (thinking signature hair 'do complete with nude polished fingernails & toenails, and some pricey polo and moderately priced designer jeans) and her mute disposition. Are there words behind that smile? Does she only laugh because she is paid for her Smart Water advertisement/endorsement? Why don't I just run away to L.A. and become a paparazzo...

Point being- John and Jen are disgustingly cute together and I'm happy for them *gag*. Let's not mention any names (Jessica Simpson), but John seems overtly genuine and happy to be in Jen's company rather than the other chicks he serially dated. Not to mention, I find it adorable how much taller he cowers over her and how he plays little tunes on his guitar for her...*sigh*.
Okay back on track- John is extremely talented and wise beyond his years (indicative in his introspective, probing lyrics)...someone told me one of his performing alter egos is Stevie Ray Vaughn; I guess I'll have to go see for myself when I see him in concert next month.
And no, I don't have too much time on my hands. I just have enough time to blog about the sexy hot body wunderland (pronounced "vunderland") of JM.
Sorry folks for the celebrity fluff- it keeps the women reading. :)

email whoring

Ever hear that checking your email during work hours decreases your work productivity? I received the most recent issue of Psychology Today in the mail last week and found a litany of interesting points about the psychology behind email-writing and the like. Do you know you do half of these things subconsciously?

All In a Name- From punctuation to domain names, email addressess reveal aspects of personality with surprising accuracy. People who are open to new experiences use more underscores and creative noms de plume, while narcissists favor overtly self-promotional ones. In fact, recipients make better-than-chance judgments on how open, friendly, neurotic, and self-disciplined an emailer is.
***thank goodness I don't have any self-deprecating or self-indulgent email addys***

Tune In, Sign On, Drop Out- While some people take cigarette breaks, others check blogs. But surfing the Web may be more stimulating than relaxing: Workers who cyberloaf more report higher job stress. On the other hand, stress-causing boredom may be driving them online in the first place.
***online-shopping is VERY BAD, I REPEAT, ONLINE-SHOPPING IS VERY BAD!!!***

Nudge, Nudge, Wink, Wink- Jokes fall flatter in cyberspace. Without facial expressions, body language, and tone of voice, it's notoriously hard to relay sarcasm via email. Rein in your overconfident sense of humor by reading your "hilarious" message in a serious tone before sending it, to feel out possible misinterpretations. Emoticons don't hurt, either. ;)
***I have had trouble in the past deciphering what an email/comment actually meant and flipped out...good thing I read this article...not like it has helped me or anything though :)***

Liar, Liar- People are more likely to tell self-serving lies over email than over the phone or during face-to-face encounters. It gives them time to compose just the right wording, and the detachment also buffers the discomfort one feels when lying.
***Why do I feel guilty writing a blog after reading this bullet point? Don't all bloggers have time to "craft" the perfect blog, since most substantial blogs worth reading are pre-meditated and thought through...it doesn't mean I'm lying though!***

About Face- Gender differences abound even in democratized cyberspace. Men are more likely to be persuaded by a male adversary's request if it's made by email, because the physical cues that stroke competition in face-to-face encounters are removed. But the same lack of social clues arouses suspicion between women, so they're best won over in person.
***I know I am too chicken to ask my boss for vacation and time-off in person so I take the email route!***

It's Your Lucky Day- People who tend to believe events in the universe are due to chance- versus their own actions- are more likely to use the Internet for non-work-related tasks at the office, such as checking news, and personal email, shopping on eBay, or gambling online. These workers believe that reproach from upper management is due to bad luck, so they log into Gmail without a worry.
***Is this how we really feel, fellow G-talkers???***

For all you non-communicative email whores who need practice in conveying what you mean, here is a helpful website along with some neat tidbits: http://webfoot.com/advice/email.top.php#intro

Chao until next time,

Succumb to it

I was told by my brilliant boyfriend that I should start a blogger...he actually told me a while back to start one, but I thought I was better than this. Lo' and behole, karma bites you in the a$$ and you're sitting here succumbing to the very thing you're trying to avoid. I'm hoping that Latimer Luis will read this post because he certainly doesn't read my lengthy, extensive, drawn-out, esoteric- okay, not that esoteric- fodder for the mind and soul. I mean, seriously, I do have something to say and if you know what is best for you, you should read it! Trust me, you'll learn something new.

I got my tush kicked today in my "Boot Camp Interval" class at the local gym (when I say "local" I mean the gym located less than .25 miles from my work, which is AN HOUR AWAY from my home base in Sac!). The instructor must have been an ex-Marine compatriot because she was busting our balls on each of the intervals. She was a cute lil' thang though...very tan, petite, muscular and married...hence why I invited Lats to come join me in the muscle slaughter so he can have a peek at the eye candy because after all, homegirl is not a threat since she is off the market (might I add, her rock was bling-blinging; the exercise room complete with mirrors galore did that ring some justice with the strength of that diamond's refractive index- single men or men currently in a relationship, take note: we like the light-blinding "prismy" looking bling (the bigger the diamond, the more it will leave us ladies speechless; after all, the equation usually goes like this: speechless woman= happy man). I'm sure the man that tries to homewreck on her marriage will have to reckon with some Van Damme rendition of a husband because I can't picture any other man strong enough to mess with this cute lil' thang that will kick your ass with one stomp.

So the take-home message is: Succumb to that which you're trying to avoid because in the end it will kick your ass and work out like mad because you will get your ass kicked too. Oooo, and also, buy your woman a nice lil' diamond or you'll get your ass kicked as well. :)
