So I took Cookie for a walk yesterday and ran into a neighbor that has a Mini Australian Shepherd that is the cutest lil' booger. We strolled over to the park and let our dogs off-leash and I absolutely fell in love with the dynamics between Cookie and the Aussie. Cookie loves to be chased and Australian Shepherds love to do the chasing and herding, so it deems for a blissful union. It was so adorable to see their interaction and I guessed that maybe Riley (the Aussie) thought Cookie was a baby lamb/sheep of some sort due to her curly ringlets and lamb-like body.
Since Australian Shepherds are notorious for their herding instinct, this seems to be the most perfect breed for Cookie- she is in dire need of a playmate of some sort because playing fetch with her becomes a tiresome effort into the wee hours of the night. I need a dog that will wear Cookie's ass out so I can catch some zzz's!
Therefore, I am planning on rescuing a Mini Aussie, but I know we are slightly over-capacity in my household and one more pet (in and amongst my other "pets") would just be utter
chaos!
