2013 Year-in-Review

Wow, 2013, you've been especially phenomenal to me...testing my limits, challenging me, avoiding the Sisyphean (definition here) yet allowing me to appreciate the mundane and esoteric.  As this year comes to a sweet close, I wanted to reflect on all the wonderful moments this year bestowed on me:

*dutifully serving my sister in her recent nuptials as her Maid-of-Honor
-I had so much fun planning all of her details for her bachelorette and bridal shower.  I learned so much from Pinterest in doing a plethora of 'DIY' crafts.
-I didn't expect to cry so much (reference: "ugly cry") during my speech at her wedding at Scott's Garden.  Jesus... karma is a b*tch, especially when I totally laughed out loud in the corner all throughout her tearing-up at her bridal shower.  I am a mean sister, for sure lol.  I deserved the humiliation at her wedding...ha!

*the purchase of Lats' and my new home
-We were able to purchase a sprawling 3000 sq. ft home in the Brentwood area and had the opportunity to customize the house to our desires (kitchen granite countertops, cabinetry, backsplashes, etc.).  The backyard totally got us with a majestic view of Mount Diablo.  I am hoping Lats caves in and gets us a lap pool in the back because I've got some great ideas for a nice cabana ;)  Not to mention, the summers in the Tri-Delta region can be very reminiscent of the albeit punishing Vegas heat...
-I've traded in my clothing shopping sprees for home decor...so now Lats yells at me for buying too much home schtuff.  Whoops.
-With the new home purchase came the purchase of my very first electric car: RAV4 EV (MSRP: $55K).  I always aim to be cutting-edge and inventive...well, here it is.  100+ mile range, takes 3-4 hours for a full charge, all-electric...and I CAN'T GO ANYWHERE but to home and work! haha...who does this?!  This was a joint decision to get a cost-effective car (only costs $20/month of electric versus $200 gas/month), but I may just turn the car in after the lease for the American dream- the car that when I told my Republican ex-military-hick-dad I was going to get, he goes, "Pauline, we ain't that kind of people."- yup, the epitome of status symbol automobiles...a BMW.
